Navigation software for marine chartplotters, designed at AvMap. The chart, the sounder trace and the instrument readings share one screen, and all of them have to be read in a second, by someone steering.

The constraints are not the ones a desktop interface has. The screen is in direct sunlight, the boat is moving, hands may be wet or gloved, and the person looking is doing something else at the same time. That pushes everything towards fewer elements, larger figures, and a colour system that survives glare rather than one that looks good in a slide.

The work covered the on-device interface running on marine hardware and Captain Cloud, the companion web application where marks, routes and tracks are managed away from the boat and synchronised back to it.
